Sa notoriété s'est forgée sur un vêtement culte "le vrai pull marin breton tricoté en pure laine vierge", destiné à l'origine aux marins pêcheurs, puis adopté par les grands navigateurs et les plaisanciers.

Avec sa maille si dense, si serrée, quasi imperméable, qui emprisonne l'air et conserve ainsi la chaleur du corps. Il habille l'équipe des sauveteurs en mer de la côte normande et, tricoté très près du corps, devient "la seconde peau du marin".
